The Swamp Fox

This 1950's Disney series is so much fun! It's based on the Robin-Hoodian daring-do of Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion, who waged guerrilla warfare on the British in South Carolina. We discovered this on YouTube a couple weeks ago thanks to a fellow history buff-friend, and it has proved to be an enjoyable little historical-fiction show after the fashion of Disney's Johnny Tremain. Do check out the first episode!

Had any of you ever heard of Francis Marion before? I confess, I hadn't! His story is definitely interesting -- and one of the most fascinating facts for me, I think, is that his guerrilla warfare tactics awaaay back in Revolutionary times provided the foundation for our own tactics today. Pretty neat. Although the show is hardly meant to be a picture of flawless historical accuracy, it still gives a good idea of what he was doing at the time .... and is quite an entertaining watch to boot. :)

Hand Work

I've been busy on some thoroughly lovely embroidery from the ladies at Clementine Pattern Company ...

This was my "valentine" for a ladies' Valentines Day party on Friday.

Cardstock, small cellophane bags, a hole-punch, a black pen and a red chalk marker, and red-and-white baker's twine. Oh, and homemade fudge! ;-)

Glowing Clouds

My sister said, "It looks as if God is right behind it!"

Let's always be willing to look at Creation ... and be able to see that God Is Right Behind It.

And Happy Valentine's Day! :o)
